The 75th e-Auction of DD Free Dish concluded recently, marking a successful event for Prasar Bharati, the public broadcaster of India. This online auction determines the allocation of MPEG-2 slots on the DD Free Dish platform for private television channels, allowing them to reach a wider audience including urban and rural areas of Bharat. The auction generated a total of ₹1,157 crore, exceeding the previous year’s revenue of ₹1,073 crore. This signifies a growing interest among private channels in reaching the vast viewership of DD Free Dish. A total of 64 slots were auctioned off, showcasing the platform’s value for diverse private broadcasters.

The 75th e-Auction underlines the growing importance of DD Free Dish as a major television platform in Bharat. As technology evolves and the demand for diverse content continues to rise, currently about 300+ MPEG-4 slots are available in DD Free Dish and only 94 slots are available in MPEG-2 which is also used by Doordarshan’s national and regional TV channels.
