D2M is still under development and testing. Standardization and large-scale deployment have not yet been established. But here we have tried to figure out its future benefits for consumers.

Benefits of D2M –

Reduction in data consumption –

Streaming video content can consume large amounts of mobile data. D2M offers a data-saving option, especially beneficial for users with limited data plans or in areas with expensive data charges.

Better access –

For people in remote locations or areas with unreliable Internet access, D2M can provide a reliable source of information and entertainment.

Emergency broadcast –

Governments and disaster relief organizations can use D2M for targeted emergency alerts and public service announcements, ensuring widespread reach even in areas with Internet disruptions.

Content delivery for OTT platforms –

D2M can offload video traffic from cellular networks, potentially improving network speeds and reducing congestion. This could benefit content providers like OTT platforms (Netflix, Disney+) by offering a more efficient way of delivering content.

D2M for Education –

Digital education has revolutionized learning, offering interactive content, personalized experiences, and access to a vast knowledge pool. However, not everyone has access to reliable internet connectivity, which can be a barrier to this educational revolution. This is where Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) can play a crucial role in bridging the digital divide and promoting inclusive education.

D2M for Local Advertisers –

The way we consume content is constantly evolving, and mobile devices are at the forefront of this change.  While traditional TV advertising still holds power, mobile D2M (Direct-to-Mobile) will be a new platform with exciting possibilities for local businesses. While the Indian government is interested in Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology, there isn’t a confirmed official launch date yet. The government is planning pilot projects in 19 cities to test D2M technology and assess its feasibility for large-scale deployment.
