Prasar Bharati, India’s public service broadcaster, is launching its own OTT platform to provide a wide range of family-friendly content that promotes Indian values and culture. The platform will be available for free, which is a significant step towards democratizing digital entertainment in India. So it is one of the latest and trending news in India for OTT viewers.

Inclusion of Private TV Channels

Prasar Bharati has invited private satellite TV channels to stream their linear TV channels on this new OTT platform. TV broadcasters can apply to show their channels on the platform for a period of one year. Prasar Bharati has proposed a 65:35 revenue-sharing model, where 65% of the net revenue from advertisements will go to the channel and 35% to Prasar Bharati.

Channels will have to provide SCTE-35/Ad Marker-enabled feed, which indicates the start and end time of ad breaks. This ensures accurate ad placement during streaming.

The channels will be classified on the basis of language and genre, which includes English news channels, Hindi news channels, non-news channels (all languages), and non-news regional channels.

Protection from digital TV –

With the launch of this platform, all satellite TV channels may shift permanently from YouTube or other platforms to Prasar Bharati OTT, as this will increase their viewership and people will not get confused.

Due to YouTube’s algorithm, he is unable to differentiate between correct and wrong information and gets confused. Today there are thousands of so-called journalists who were fired from news channels due to corruption, and political collusion, but now they are running their own channel on YouTube and confusing crores of people. This is the most dangerous for any nation.

This initiative of Prasar Bharati is a promising step towards enriching digital entertainment in Digital India.
