If you want to buy a new DTH connection then it is good news for you that soon DTH and cable TV service may revise their DTH Recharge Plan, because Trai has removed the ceiling on network capacity fee (NCF) of ₹130 for 200 TV channels and ₹160 for more than 200 TV channels. Now DTH/Cable TV Service providers are allowed to charge different network capacity fees based on the number of channels, different regions, and different customer classes.
Important changes coming soon –
- Any pay channel that is available at no subscription fee on the DTH platform of the public service broadcaster will be declared free-to-air by the broadcaster.
- The distinction between HD and SD channels for carriage fees has been removed to encourage the transmission of high-definition content.
- Due to this now even middle-class families will have the ability to subscribe to HD TV channels on their DTH.
- Now DTH services will offer more flexible and best offers to attract more customers to DTH service.
- Now Cable TV operators may provide CATV services with Zero NCF as earlier.
- This rule will be in force after 90 days from the date of their publication in the official gazette.
Why these changes are impotent –
It was already expected! because so much Negative Feedback was coming on the current tariff, subscribers were moving to other options like OTT platforms, DD Free dish & YouTube TV, that’s why DTH companies were losing lots of subscribers every year. So now finally, Cable TV and DTH will be in action to attract more subscribers.Discover more from TrackDish - TV Installation Guide
