We have received lots of questions about Coaxial Line Amplifiers which are easily available in the Indian market. Lots of satellite lovers buy these amplifiers to increase the gain of the satellite system.

But actually, they don’t know how to use it, where they should be using it, and how these line amplifiers work. So don’t worry, today we will let you know all about coaxial line amplifiers.

But remember a good clean signal needs no amplification. The true advantage of amplification (or boosting) for those signals is if you have long runs of cable or distribution to multiple locations, It means any installation or configuration losing gain due to the long run.

What is Coaxial Line Amplifier?

A coaxial line amplifier can be used if you have a high distance between the satellite dish antenna and the set-top box.

To understand this, you should know how much lengthy cable you are using between LNB to the set-top box. Here we are giving you an example:

If you are using two bundles of coaxial wire (length approx: 450 meters), commonly this type of lengthy wire used in multi flats buildings.

As you know set-top box distributes 13V power for vertical signals and 18V power for horizontal signals through the “LNB in” port. So if you are using a 450-meter coaxial cable for connecting LNB to the set-top box. It means your cable may lose 1-3V during its length, so it means your LNB is getting 15-16V power Instead of 18V. So you will get low gain for horizontal signals because LNB is not getting enough power (18V).

So, to recover this power loss and gain loss, you can use the Coaxial Line Amplifier.

When do you need a Coaxial Line Amplifier?

You should check both side connections of the coaxial cable, select the horizontal frequency or channel from the set-top box, and check in the “LNB side” or “Dish Antenna” side how much power you are getting from the set-top box. You should use a voltmeter. If you are getting power below 18V then you can use Coaxial Line Amplifier to manage it. Also, keep note of how much gain getting directly from LNB (by using a digital satellite finder). For example, you are getting 65dB gain.

Now come to the second side cable connection means the set-top box side, check how much gain getting from LNB after using a lengthy wire (use battery-operated digital sat finer) and see the differences in the gain label. If differences are above 10dB, it means you are getting below 55dB gain where you were getting 65dB gain near LNB. Then you can use this Coaxial Line Amplifier.

Where should not use Coaxial Line Amplifier?

You should not use Coaxial Line Amplifier if you are thinking that it will increase LNB signals. It will not increase LNB signals. This device only manages signal or power losses between LNB and set-top box cable connectivity.

You should also not use Coaxial Line Amplifier if you are using below the 100-meter coaxial wire for LNB and set-top box connections. It will not work.

Now, we have cleared your doubts regarding Coaxial Line Amplifier.

FAQs –

What is an inline amplifier?

The coaxial inline amplifier is used where the length of the coaxial cable is more than 100 meters and the power coming from the set-top box gets weakened while traveling in that cable. The power is boosted by installing an inline amplifier in that cable so that the LNB continues to get the correct power.

What is the function of a line amplifier?

The power coming from the set-top box to run the LNB gets weakened while traveling through that cable. So the power is boosted by installing an inline amplifier in that cable so that the LNB continues to get the correct power.

What is the function of a line amplifier?

This device is capable of improving the correct voltage for the higher lengths of LNB.

What are the different types of power amplifiers?

Power amplifiers improve only power, whereas Line amplifiers improve power and satellite TV signals as well.

What do you understand about amplifiers?

An amplifier is a device that increases the voltage, current, or power of a signal

What is a satellite inline amplifier?

The Line amplifier is used to boost the signal from your satellite to your receiver.

How can I improve my weak satellite signal?

If you are using a high-length coaxial cable and your satellite signal is weak then you can use the line amplifier.

How can I improve my satellite signal quality?

There are various factors so you should check them like LNB quality, Satellite antenna quality, low-length coaxial cable, and use of the right connector.
