DTH LNB Trouble Shooting Guide –
What is DTH LNB?
The LNB (Low noise blocker) used on your Dish antenna is the main equipment to receive gain from your satellite dish and convert it for your set-top box.
If your LNB is dead or not working then you will receive a satellite TV signal on your set-top box. Here we will let you know that How do you know if your LNB is bad?
Here is a very simple trick to check that your LNB is faulty or not. So If you are not getting a signal on your Set-Top Box, just remove the coaxial cable from your set-top box and see what changes coming in the signal and strength bar which is showing by pressing the “Info” button in your satellite receiver.
Here I have attached three pictures in different conditions
- When Coaxial cable plugged-in –
It means – your box is getting signals because you are getting LNB Signal Quality and LNB Signal Strength, if the signal is low then you can clean your dirty dish antenna and adjust slowly-slowly to the right direction.
2. When Coaxial cable removed from box –
It means your box is not connected to the dish antenna or your LNB is faulty because you are not getting LNB Signal Quality and LNB Signal Strength. You can check satellite decoder to LNB connectivity or It is better to buy a new LNB.
3. When Coaxial cable connected by signal not coming –
It means – Your box is connected to LNB or dish antenna but not receiving satellite signals, maybe your dish antenna is dirty or you need re-align your dish antenna to the right satellite direction.
so now you have understood that LNB Signal Strength always indicates that your satellite box is connected to LNB or Dish antenna, where LNB Signal Quality indicates that your box is getting signal from the dish antenna or satellite.
