Technically absolutely not! we will let you know why you should not use the splitter with the dish network system (Satellite TV). The splitter can be used with any DTH or dish antenna like dish TV, TATA Sky, Airtel Digital TV, Sun Direct, or other DTH systems Lots of viewers are asking the question by using the comment box that they have two set-top boxes and one dish antenna so can we use a splitter to connect both the set-top box? Here I will give you the reason why you should not use the splitter with any DTH / dish antenna. The reason is that the set-top box provides output power to the dish antenna LNB camera as below –
- 13V for vertical signals
- 18V for Horizontal signals
How does LNB send signals to the set-top box?
All the set-top box has the function to switch power (13V/18V) automatically and distribute the same to LNB according to the channel’s polarization. If you selected any TV channel to watch that is getting from vertical polarization, it means your set-top box sends power to dish antenna LNB 13V. So when your antenna LNB receives 13V power then it will send only vertical signals to both receivers. You will not get signals from Horizontal polarization to both receivers. It is a clear power conflict within both the set-top boxes. But if you switch off another set-top box then you can access all the channels from both polarizations in the first set-top box. Now you can understand that the splitter never works between LNB to receiver signal and power distribution. If you want to watch TV channels only from the single polarization then you can use the splitter. So How to connect two or more set-top boxes in the single-dish antenna?
There are many options to connect multiple set-top boxes in a single-dish antenna but here we are giving you 3 proven solutions.- Uni-Cable LNB
- Multi-Output LNB
- Set-Top Box Loop out Port
