As you know, very soon the D2M technology may launch in India so if you want to know about the D2M frequency then this information may help you to gain knowledge about D2M Broadcasting.
Here I will tell you the difference between FM Radio Frequencies, DVB-T2 Frequencies, and D2M frequencies.
FM Frequency | DVB-T2 Frequency | D2M Frequency |
88MHz To 108MHz VHF Band (Very High Frequency) | 470MHz to 870MHz UHF Band (Ultra High Frequency) | 538MHz to 578MHz UHF Band (Ultra High Frequency) |
FM Radio broadcasting, the 88Mhz to 108MHz frequency band is used for private and public sector radio stations in India. | (470MHz to 870MHz) spectrum. Where 538MHz and 578MHz frequencies were active for Doordarshan channels. Currently, DVB-t2 service is suspended or paused for unknown reasons. | According to the IIT Kanpur white paper, the designated frequency band for D2M may be 526 – 582 MHz |
So you can understand that it’s technically not feasible for a single device to support both FM radio and DVB-T2 reception. Most devices only support one type of broadcast reception.
There’s a chance in D2M technology that it might utilize ATSC 3.0, which is not compatible with DVB-T2 technology.
So I think the DVB-T2 set-top box likely wouldn’t work for D2M broadcasts because D2M technology is still under development in India, so the specific implementation details might vary.
