But before doing this exercise, you must check your following Satellite Dish accessories.

Dish Antenna –

Dish size should be 90cm to 120 cm to receive good gain because a small Ku-band DTH antenna gives you more trouble finding satellite TV signals.

LNB –

Selection of LNB always chooses low noise figure LNB for the best signals, low noise LNB should use only for low signals or weak signal satellites.

Set-top Box –

I always suggest using the MPEG-2 receiver at the time of installation, because the MPEG-2 receiver can lock channels in low gain and show you a real-time signal label. So always use the MPEG-2 receiver at the time of installation, try to on Tone burst from your set-top box if available, because this is an easy way to set your dish.

Cable –

always use good cable and connectors, because if you do not use good cable it can take more gain, for example, if you are receiving gain from Dish 50db gain and your cable is taking 10db gain then your set-top box receives only 40db gain, it means it will not lock channels, and you will see a low gain.

How to point the satellite dish? –

While installing a dish, you should remember that there should be a gap of 1-6 degrees within satellites, because under 4-5 degrees you can catch satellites easily.

My DIY Dish Installation –

  • GSAT-15 at 93.5° EAST for Doordarshan FREE DTH channels
  • G-Sat 9 at 97.3° East for Bhutan and China sat Channels
  • SES 12 at 95.0° East for Srilankan Tamil Channels

On a single dish, Single LNB will not able to catch the above satellites, but after attaching 3 LNBs on a single satellite, now I am getting signals from 3 LNBs in one dish.

check the given below pictures for 3 LNB one-dish references and DIY ideas.

Can you put three LNB on one dish?
